Message Don't know if everyone has noticed that NONE of our top gurus in the scene have weighed in on this one.....and you know who you are. They're not touching this subject because there's alot more to the story yet to unfold......They're not purposely letting Z1 hang out to dry, it's just that this situation is radioactive.

There's alot of speculation on this, but let's be real. There are, for the sake of arguement, tuners out ther that palce a full garantee on their work. The pakage they put together are a stand alone ECU, propriatery software, NON ACCESS to adjustable boost, thorough fuel delivery modification and a substantially safe tune via DYNO TIME....This is BIG $$$$$, but check it out for yourself!

We all pick and choose our priorities in terms of moding or restoring these cars and the $$ budget is a huge factor.

NO ONE is going to warantee modifying a used motor without all of these fail-safe measures in place and don't forget the nulification if you tamper with it. Z1 doesn't offer that type of package. I don't see anyone else offering it on Z32s either. That's the risk you're taking when you head in that direction and if you choose a used motor, the risks are higher.

Those of you demanding that he get an imeadiate brand new engine are way out of line.

"It took about four months for the vehicle to be near completion. I was in constant communication with z1 throughout the entire process and the money was paid in full without any problems. I was told that the vehicle would be completed before my due date to return back to the states. I had my vehicle arranged to be picked up on 25th of October. I then contacted z1 and I was notified that they needed another day to complete everything so I rescheduled so that the vehicle wouldn't be picked up until the following day."

Z1 was given plenty of time to complete this build, but the OP was for whatever reason, in a hury to get it back. Hey, I would be too, especially if I'd paid them promptly. If the OP gave you the additional day, then the car should have been 100% I'm particularly sensitive to people having to wait a long time on these big builds, machine shops are very unforgiving. 4 months, is still 4 months.

IMHO, picking up the car in person is always ideal.

Was it made clear to the OP how important that the car be dyno'd, and did he pass on this with the full understanding of the inherent risks??????

Did John spend enough time discussing this with him????

Would he have received more dialogue on the subject from Greg or Harry.....who's to say?????

Was it cold enough enough where he lives that he got a significant boost spike from the denser air this time of year that we all know and love?????

Did he cheapen out and fill up on fuel at a Sam's Club?????

Was he experiencing significant "blow-by" that lowered his octane level enough to run lean??????

Did he get a fuel pressure drop from his 20+ year old fuel pump????

Is this how the car lost the first engine?????????

This was supposedly a low-mileage Z, was the tank checked for build up??????

AND ON AND ON AND ON.........

John mentioned that the truck showed up earlier than expected, but It would be inconceivable that he would just send it on the truck without a thorough A/F test. 16lbs of boost is a little high, but no where near the jagged edge.

Seems to me that the OP got exactly what he paid for.

Let me be VERY clear, I'm not deminishing the fact that the OP spent $22K, he deserves to have a nice running car. In a perfect world, Z1 would like another quality build running around with their decal on the quarter glass as well. These things happen but it shouldn't be a anyones cue to say "I told you so"

The car performed as expected for 12 days after delivery and we need to be more realistic about how this unfolds.

To the OP, Don't give up....These are awesome cars!

Gotta....Have....More.....Boost!!!!!!
